How It Works

When an image is uploaded, the plugin generates a WebP version alongside the original image using WordPress’s native image handling system. Original files are never deleted, ensuring full compatibility with all themes and browsers.

The plugin does not require any external account or third-party service to function.

  1. Upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress
  3. Navigate to Settings Image to WebP
  4. Configure your preferred WebP quality and run bulk conversion if needed

Does this plugin replace original images?

No. Original images are kept intact. WebP files are generated alongside them.
