Allaxi Timeline Slider Creator
Allaxi Timeline Slider Creator
Description
Don’t just show the result. Let visitors explore the change.
Show the transformation, not just the finished result. Allaxi lets you create interactive Before / After comparisons and horizontal multi-frame timelines directly in WordPress — free. Upload your images, customise the slider in a live editor and add it to any page with a shortcode. No coding required.
From a newly furnished studio to an artwork taking shape, Allaxi helps your audience see what changed — instead of just reading about it.
What you can do with Allaxi Free
- Drag-to-reveal image comparisons — show the before and after in one interactive view.
- Horizontal multi-frame timelines — let visitors scrub through each stage of a process, artwork or transformation.
- Live visual editor — build and customise your slider while seeing the result.

- Presentation options — add a title, information text and optional background box.
- Easy shortcode placement — insert your slider into posts and pages without coding.
Ideal for: home improvements, architecture, photography edits, artwork restoration, web design makeovers, landscaping and product transformations.
Create a visual timeline — included free
Show a whole journey, not just the start and finish. Arrange successive images into a horizontal, draggable timeline — ideal for concept sketches to final illustration, construction stages, restoration projects or historical comparisons. Add labelled stages so visitors can explore the progress themselves.
Go further with Allaxi Pro
Storyboard to Clip — reveal the finished motion.
Compare an illustration or storyboard with finished footage. Dragging the slider reveals the video while moving through the clip. Adjust the matching frame, optionally dissolve the sketch and add transparent PNG overlays. Works with local video files or YouTube links (local files typically scrub more smoothly).
More Pro options
- Vertical comparisons and timelines (horizontal modes are free).
- Per-frame transparent PNG overlays.
- Advanced styling and additional timeline presentation options, including caption bubbles.
- Option to remove the “Made with Allaxi” credit.
Free vs Pro at a glance
- Free: horizontal Before / After comparisons, horizontal multi-frame Timeline Slider and live editor.
- Pro: Storyboard-to-Clip video reveal, vertical orientation, PNG overlays and advanced styling.
Create your first slider
- Open Allaxi in your WordPress dashboard.
- Choose Before / After for a two-image comparison, or Timeline for a sequence of stages.
- Add your images and adjust the available controls in the live editor.
- Copy your shortcode, such as
[allaxi id="123"], into a post or page.
Tip: For the cleanest comparison or timeline transition, use images with matching dimensions and camera angles.
Uninstall
Allaxi cleans up after itself. When you delete the plugin from the Plugins screen — and only if you have enabled “Remove data on uninstall” in Settings — it removes everything it created: its settings and options, its install date, and every Before/After, Timeline and Video widget you built (stored as its own hidden post type). On a multisite network the same clean-up runs for each site. Deactivating keeps everything; only deleting runs the clean-up, and it runs only when you have opted in. Your Media Library images are never touched — Allaxi only references them, so your originals always stay in place.
Installation
- Upload the plugin folder to
/wp-content/plugins/, or install the plugin ZIP from the Plugins screen. - Activate Allaxi from the Plugins screen.
- Open Allaxi in the admin menu, pick a mode, and build your first widget.
- Copy the shortcode shown under the live preview and paste it into any post or page.
Screenshots

The Dashboard — pick a mode and see your recent widgets, with the shortcode for each ready to copy.

Before / After editor — choose your two images and style the reveal line, handle, labels and background box, with a live preview beside the controls.

The live preview — drag the handle to wipe between "before" and "after" exactly as your visitors will.

Free horizontal Timeline editor — add stages with labels and captions to show a visual process.

Horizontal Timeline scrub (Free) — a multi-frame story visitors explore by dragging the track.

Video mode (Storyboard to Clip) — pair a storyboard sketch with a video clip and set the match point so the drawing lines up with the footage.

Video reveal — dragging the handle reveals the sketch into the finished clip while the video scrubs in sync.

Settings — your defaults for widget width, fonts and the "Remove data on uninstall" option.
Faq
Build it in the Allaxi editor, then copy the shortcode shown under the live preview (for example [allaxi id="123"]) and paste it into any post or page.
Compress phone or camera footage before uploading — aim for 720p, 30fps, H.264 MP4, web-optimised, 1–3 MB. The plugin ships a step-by-step encoding guide (HandBrake + ffmpeg, Mac and PC), linked from the in-dashboard manual. Prefer a local upload over YouTube where you can — it scrubs more smoothly.
Yes. For a clean reveal, both images should share the same width and height in pixels; crop them to matching dimensions before uploading.
Reviews
Changelog
0.7.8
- New: after 14 days of use, a small notice asks administrators whether they would leave a review on WordPress.org. “Remind me in 2 weeks” asks again later; “Already did” hides it for good. Its settings are removed when you delete the plugin.
- Fixed: the “leave a review” link in the sidebar pointed at the wrong WordPress.org page.
0.7.7
- Fixed (Pro): vertical timelines now display correctly on the front end. The reveal line ran down the left edge instead of across the image, because the vertical layout styles only loaded for Before / After sliders.
- Changed: rewritten plugin description with a clearer Free vs Pro summary.
0.7.6
- Security: internal hardening.
0.7.5
- Hardening: the preview REST endpoint now verifies the user may edit the specific instance being previewed (not just a broad capability), and that the ID is an Allaxi instance.
- Hardening: shortcode output is now passed through wp_kses against an explicit allow-list of the tags and attributes the widget uses.
- Improved: the “Pro feature not installed” editor message is now a plain informational note (shown only for instances built with the separate Pro add-on), and the in-editor upgrade panel copy was expanded and a display bug fixed.
0.7.4
- Fixed: on some setups a block of developer notes could appear as visible text over a slider on the front end. Internal notes are now kept fully out of the page output.
- Fixed: the “Change image” / “Change video” / “Change overlay” buttons in the editor no longer push the small clear (×) button out of their column on narrower layouts. The button now shrinks neatly and the × stays in place.
0.7.3
- Security hardening for the WordPress.org review: the bundled documentation renderer now HTML-escapes all text before formatting and passes link URLs through esc_url(). It only ever processes the plugin’s own docs, so there is no functional or visible change.
0.7.2
- Code hygiene for the WordPress.org review: prefixed all template-scope variables, and clarified the input-sanitising and dynamic-action annotations. No functional or visible changes.
0.7.1
- Added the plugin readme and documentation, and finalised the in-dashboard User Manual and examples gallery.
0.7.0
- New Video mode (Pro) — “Storyboard to Clip”: pair a storyboard sketch with a video clip; dragging reveals the footage and scrubs the video in sync.
- Full Video editor: storyboard + clip pickers, local upload or YouTube source, auto-grabbed clip thumbnail, and a tunable “match point”.
- “Fade sketch out” reveal option with an adjustable fade-start point.
- Per-layer PNG overlays for the storyboard and the clip.
- YouTube source support via the iframe API, with a paste-a-link/embed modal.
- Examples gallery expanded: Before/After, Timeline (horizontal + vertical) and both Video methods.
- New in-dashboard User Manual (with a linked step-by-step video-encoding guide).
0.6.10
- Timeline: vertical-right caption bubble with a label heading and rolling caption.
