If you need to restrict your WordPress posts to select only one category, this plugin automatically changes the category/taxonomy checkboxes to radio buttons in the post editor. This simplifies category selection for users who only want to assign one category to a post.

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

  1. Upload plugin-name.php to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  3. Once activated, the category checkboxes will automatically change to radio buttons in your post editor.

Yes, the plugin supports both the Classic Editor and Gutenberg block editor.

Doesn't work with WordPress 5 Gutenberg editor

The actual plugin didn't got updated since around August 2015. Only the README got updated in December 2018. The actual plugins consists of only one hook and two lines of JavaScript. Maybe this minimalistic approach worked in WordPress < 5 and that's the two stars of my review. But in the new WordPress 5 block-editor this doesn't do a thing.

Installed because I wanted to stop users (mu site) from selecting more than one category. For some reason, they like to choose several!
This will stop them.
