Converting an old HTML, PHP, or ASP site to WordPress? WP Page Extension will let you create pages inside of WordPress and give them an extension you want. It will help your site never lose any old backlinks and SEO. You can choose any page to have any extension. Choices are: .html, .htm, .php, .xml, .shtml and .asp. If you don’t pick an extension then it will just default to no extension.

Unlike other similar plugins, this one allows you to choose the extension with no pre-determined options. And you can change it anytime. This is particularly handy if you manage multiple sites since you can use the same plugin on all of them.

WordPress page permalink structure or extension is not customizable by default. This plugin helps to add anything like .html, .php as WordPress Page Extention and this plugin provides an easy way to change it once for all pages.

This plugin helps to add anything like .html, .php, .aspx, .htm, .asp, .shtml as WordPress Page Extention on a WordPress site running 4.0 and beyond.

  • Allows you to set custom page permalink structure and add an extension to pages.
  • Allows you to remove trailing slashes automatically from WordPress page permalink structure.
  • Allows you to set custom permalink structure for WordPress static posts page.

Compatibility

This plugin is tested with many popular SEO plugins like Yoast SEO, All In One SEO, SEOPress etc. and fully compatible with WordPress Version 4.0 and beyond and also compatible with any WordPress theme.

Support

  1. Visit ‘Plugins > Add New’
  2. Search for ‘WP Page Permalink Extension’ and install it.
  3. Or you can upload the change-wp-page-permalinks folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory manually.
  4. Activate WP Page Permalink Extension from your Plugins page.
  5. After activation go to ‘Settings > WP Page Extension’.
  6. Set your page extension and save changes.

To re-use the default page permalinks, just deactivate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu and resave your permalinks.

How to set custom page extension?

Go to ‘Settings > WP Page Extension’ and enter your custom page permalink and hit ‘save changes’.

Yes. You can access this from ‘Settings > WP Page Extension’

How to check this is working?

Open any page of your website and you can see the change.

Dear All, I had a client who wanted to get his php website freshly designed and since we develop WordPress websites we pitched him. His only concern was that his website has great SEO and he wants the links on his new website to be exactly like the old one. His old website had .php extension on links of the pages. We tried a lot but couldn't succeed in WordPress permalink settings. We also searched a lot about plugins but couldn't find one.The confirmation of the Website was dependent on this issue else he wanted to give the project to some php guy. I somehow encountered this plugin through a lot of google search and it solved my issue in 2 minutes.Hence, I was successful in bagging the Project. Thanks Sayan for this Plugin! One suggestion, please use 'Wordpress permalink extension' as your keyword in the description as well. 'Custom page extension' is way too technical and I know a lot of people would search using 'Wordpress permalink extension' or 'Custom Permalink extension'. This would give you a lot of downloads as I encountered this plugin after several hours of google search.
