Description

Chatvox adds an AI chatbot to your WordPress website so visitors can ask questions, get help, and share their contact details in one chat widget. Use it for customer support, lead generation, and live support with human handoff.

Train your AI agent on your website, documentation, FAQs, and uploaded files. Connect the agent to WordPress from Settings > Chatvox with one click, or enter its Agent ID. No theme edits or embed code required.

AI customer support using your content

Help visitors find answers about your business, products, and services. Add website pages, sitemaps, files, text, and Q&A pairs to your agent’s knowledge in Chatvox, then test its answers before publishing.

Lead generation inside the conversation

Configure the Collect Leads action in Chatvox to ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, and custom details. Choose when to ask and which fields to require, so visitors can request a quote, book a follow-up, or express interest while chatting.

Live chat and human handoff

Enable human handoff to bring a teammate into a conversation when a customer needs a person. Your team can reply through live chat or follow up through Helpdesk tickets in Chatvox.

A chat widget that fits your website

Customize your widget’s appearance and behavior in Chatvox. Set your brand colors, choose its position, and control which domains can display it. Changes are managed in your Chatvox account.

Simple WordPress setup

  • Connect your AI chatbot to your Chatvox account with one click, or enter an Agent ID.
  • Follow the setup guide from Settings > Chatvox.
  • Open guides for agent knowledge, lead capture, and human handoff from WordPress.
  • Load the widget on your site’s frontend only after an agent is connected.
  • Remove the widget at any time with Disconnect.
  • Keep your theme files unchanged.

Account and plan requirements

This plugin is free to install and requires a separate Chatvox account. Agent training, conversations, leads, live chat, integrations, and billing are managed in Chatvox. Available features and usage limits depend on your Chatvox plan. Lead capture and human handoff require eligible plans. See current plans and pricing before choosing a plan.

To get started, follow the Quick Start and Web Widget installation guide.

External Services

This plugin relies on the third-party/external Chatvox service to load the customer support chat widget on the frontend of your website.

  • Service Name: Chatvox (https://chatvox.co)
  • Script Location: https://my.chatvox.co/embed.js
  • Purpose: Renders the interactive chat widget allowing visitors to communicate with your AI agent.
  • Data Transmission: When the chat widget loads or is interacted with on the frontend, standard visitor browser metadata (such as IP address and user-agent), chat message content, and any information a visitor submits through configured chat workflows may be sent to Chatvox’s servers to process and deliver responses.
  • Connect button (optional): If you select “Connect to Chatvox”, your browser opens Chatvox so you can sign in and choose an agent. Your site address is sent to Chatvox, and this site then exchanges a one-time code with Chatvox once to receive your Agent ID (and, if you chose it, the identity verification secret).
  • Signed-in users (optional, off by default): If you turn on “Identify logged-in WordPress users to Chatvox”, the widget also sends a signed token containing each logged-in user’s ID, display name, and email address to Chatvox. The token also contains your site’s address, so Chatvox keeps users of different sites apart. Nothing is sent for visitors who are not logged in.

  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
  3. Create a Chatvox account, or sign in to your existing account.
  4. Create an agent, add your knowledge, and publish it. Check that Deploy > Web Widget is turned on.
  5. In WordPress, go to Settings > Chatvox and select Connect to Chatvox. Sign in, choose your agent, and approve. You can also enter an Agent ID manually instead.
  6. Visit your site to check the widget. If you restrict Allowed embed domains in Chatvox, include your site’s domain.
What is Chatvox?

Chatvox is an AI agent platform for teams. It helps you train agents on your website, docs, files, and other knowledge sources, then deploy those agents as branded chat experiences.

Where do I find my Agent ID?

You usually do not need it: select Connect to Chatvox in Settings > Chatvox and choose your agent. To enter it manually, sign in at my.chatvox.co, open your agent, go to Deploy > Web Widget and select Copy Agent ID. Then use Enter an Agent ID manually in Settings > Chatvox. You do not need to paste the embed script.

Do I need a Chatvox account?

Yes. Create an account to build, train, publish, and manage your agent. The WordPress plugin is free to install. Chatvox features and usage depend on your plan; see plans and pricing.

What can I train my Chatvox agent on?

Chatvox supports knowledge sources such as website pages, uploaded files, individual URLs, sitemaps, raw text snippets, Q&A pairs, and website crawls. Training is handled in Chatvox, not inside WordPress.

How do I show the Chatvox widget on my site?

Select Connect to Chatvox in Settings > Chatvox and choose your agent, or enter its Agent ID manually and save. The widget will appear on your site using the configuration from your Chatvox account.

Does this edit my theme files?

No. The plugin uses WordPress script loading hooks and does not modify your theme files.

Can I disable the widget temporarily?

Yes. Select Disconnect on the Chatvox settings page. You can connect again at any time.

Can I tell Chatvox who my logged-in users are?

Yes. Turn on “Identify logged-in WordPress users to Chatvox” and paste your agent’s verification secret (Settings > Security > User identification in Chatvox). Your agent can then use actions that need a signed-in visitor, such as order or ticket lookups. This is off by default. The secret stays on your server and is never printed in your pages.

Each user is identified by their WordPress user ID, such as 123, and your site’s address. Chatvox keeps users of different sites apart when they share one agent, and sends a user’s ID only to your site’s domain. If your store’s API runs on another domain, return its address from the chatvox_identity_issuer filter.

Can I customize the widget colors, position, branding, or allowed domains?

Yes. Widget customization and domain allowlist settings are managed in your Chatvox account.

Can Chatvox capture leads?

Chatvox supports lead capture workflows from the Chatvox platform. If enabled for your agent, visitor-submitted lead details are processed by Chatvox according to your Chatvox configuration.

Why is my chatbot not showing?

Check the connected agent, publish your agent, and turn on Deploy > Web Widget in Chatvox. If Allowed embed domains is configured, add your site’s domain. Clear any site cache and refresh.

Can my team reply to visitors through live chat?

Yes, with human handoff configured on an eligible Chatvox plan. Teammates reply from Chatvox, and visitors stay in the same website chat. See the human handoff guide.

Does this plugin add live chat or AI training features inside WordPress?

No. The plugin installs the Chatvox web widget on WordPress. Chat management, AI training, automations, integrations, and usage settings live in Chatvox.

1.4.0 – 10/25/2026

  • Identify logged-in users by their WordPress user ID and your site’s address, so actions can use WooCommerce’s own REST API. Add the chatvox_identity_issuer filter.

1.3.0 – 10/24/2026

  • Identify logged-in users as wp_{site key}_{user ID}, so sites that share an agent never share contacts. The site key is created once and kept on uninstall.
