Description

CookieScript helps your WordPress site meet privacy requirements like GDPR, CPRA, PIPEDA and more. It adds a cookie banner to your site—no need to edit files or write any code yourself.

You can use it right after installing, even without a CookieScript account. Later on, if you want to adjust how the banner looks or behaves, you can link an account to unlock more options.

The plugin works with Google Consent Mode v2 and the WP Consent API, and can block third-party cookies until a visitor gives permission. It keeps your site compliant without interfering with tools like Google Analytics or ads.

More details are available at cookie-script.com.

What does this plugin actually do?

It adds your CookieScript banner code to your site automatically. You won’t need to change any template files or figure out where scripts should go.

How do I set it up?

Just install and activate the plugin. That’s all it takes—the default CookieScript banner will appear on your site right away. No coding experience needed.

Is Google Consent Mode supported?

Yes. CookieScript includes support for Google Consent Mode v2, so your site can continue collecting analytics and serving ads—while still respecting visitors’ choices. You’ll find the option in your CookieScript dashboard.

Can it work with the WP Consent API?

It can. If your site uses other plugins that rely on the WordPress Consent API, they’ll be able to read the same consent choices shared by CookieScript.

What about third-party cookies – can it block those?

Yes. Once you configure your banner in the CookieScript dashboard, it can prevent third-party scripts from running until users agree to it.

Where can I get support?

If you need a hand, you’ll find helpful articles, setup guides, and quick instruction videos right here.

Idéal pour moi et mes clients / Great for me and my clients

By Bessonweb (besky) on May 1, 2024

I've been recommending cookie script to my customers for several years now, and I'm very satisfied. Support is quite responsive. The scanner, although sometimes incomplete, saves a lot of time. Setup is super simple and the script can be self-hosted if required.

Can't deactivate the plug-in

By wrongchris on January 2, 2024

I installed the plugin, but later, I realized that I could install the script without it. When I tried to deactivate it, WordPress went into error mode. Eventually, I managed to deactivate it by renaming the plugins folder, but now it gives an error when trying to delete it.

I would remove it manually, but I'm unsure if it will leave tables in the database. What a disaster.

It's okay...

The Plugin looks good and works fine, but you have to pay for it, if yout want the code running on your website.

And you can't deactivate it!!!

They are not trustworthy

By Gustavo Gonzalez (GustavoGlez) on June 15, 2023

I am truly disappointed with the company behind Cooki Script. At first, I was very satisfied with the service they offered as it integrated a solution for cookies on my website. Moreover, being one of the early supporters of the company from its beginnings, I thought I had a solid relationship with them. Because I was one of the early supporters of the company when they were still starting out, I enjoyed a Legacy plan that I renewed every year.

However, my disappointment came when they suddenly canceled my payment account without prior notice. This is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to customers who have been supporting their company from the start. To make matters worse, they forced us to subscribe to a plan with a much higher price without offering any reasonable alternatives if we want to keep it running on our websites.

When I reached out to their support to resolve the issue, their response was simply admitting that they did it on purpose. This attitude is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of consideration for loyal customers.

I would advise caution when dealing with this company, as their lack of transparency and willingness to mistreat their customers are evident. There are many other options in the market that offer similar solutions without this kind of unfair treatment.

As a dissatisfied customer, I feel compelled to share my experience to warn other users about this company's attitude. I hope they take my feedback into account and take the necessary steps to improve their service and treat their customers with the respect they deserve.

AVOID

Such a bad plug in that there is not even way to deactivate it, and for what I read in the forum this happens since months... DO NOT USE IT
