By default, WordPress uses Gravatar for profile images. This plugin gives you full control by letting you:

  • Upload a custom avatar from your profile page
  • Replace the default WordPress avatar instantly

  • Keep avatar data local to your site

  1. Upload the plugin files to the /wp-content/plugins/custom-profile-avatar directory, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress.
  3. Go to Users Profile.
  4. Upload your custom avatar.
  5. Optionally disable Gravatar in the plugin settings.

Does this plugin completely disable Gravatar?

Yes. You can disable Gravatar entirely so WordPress does not load external avatar images.

Can each user upload their own avatar?

Does this work with existing themes?
