The Dashboard Sticky Notes plugin adds the functionality to add sticky notes into the dashboard. You could specify the context (normal or side), priority (high or low), and target (user roles and/or users themselves) with notes. HTML tags and shortcodes are also available in the content.

Uninstall

  1. Deactivate the plugin
  2. That’s it! 🙂
  1. Copy the dashboard-sticky-notes directory into your wp-content/plugins directory
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  3. Add and edit notes in Sticky Notes
  4. That’s it! 🙂

Lightweight and Flexible

I tried several of the plugins for adding notes to the admin dashboard. I'm very happy I found and settled on this one. It enables us to quickly document key information for other admins. There are three features/aspects I like in particular:
  1. Allows multiple notes. While we typically only need one note on the admin dashboard, we do have occasion where multiple is handy.
  2. Leverages the WordPress ecosystem to keep it lightweight.
  3. Targeted viewing. We can assign notes to be visible by user/role and can set the priority of the note. They can also be organized like any other dashboard notes.

Best dashboard notes plugin I've found

I've tried several similar plugins but this was the only one that allows me to use text styling for better readability. It's also great that each note is a separate widget that can be positioned individually.
