Diluted Test Order for WooCommerce adds a “Test order” payment method to WooCommerce. Use it to verify checkout, thank-you page, order emails and order status without going through a real payment gateway.

  • Admin-only – Only users who can manage WooCommerce (e.g. administrators or shop managers) see the method at checkout.
  • Orders placed with this method are marked as paid immediately. The normal post-payment flow runs (customer emails, stock reduction, etc.).

Requires WooCommerce 6.0+. Compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and the block-based checkout.

Usage

Log in as an administrator or shop manager, add a product to the cart, go to checkout. Select “Test order (fake payment)” and place the order. The order completes and you are redirected to the thank-you page.

Order details

  • Payment method in admin: “Test order (admin only)” or the title you set in settings.
  • Transaction ID on the order: diluted_test_order_{order_id} (so you can identify test orders).
  1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
  2. Upload the plugin to /wp-content/plugins/diluted-test-order-for-woocommerce/ or install via WordPress admin.
  3. Activate the plugin.
  4. Go to WooCommerce Settings Payments and enable “Test order (admin only)”.
Who can see the test order payment method?

Only users with the “manage_woocommerce” capability (typically administrators and shop managers).

Is this compatible with block checkout and HPOS?

Yes. The plugin is compatible with WooCommerce custom order tables (HPOS) and the cart/checkout blocks.
