Description

Disables responsive images introduced in 4.4. This plugin is only meant to be a temporary solution to fixing conflicts with certain plugins and themes. Responsive images drive the web forward.
Credit for solution goes to Birgir Erlendsson.

Why would I ever want to disable responsive images?

You really wouldn’t, but if you absolutely need to because of conflicts with outdated plugins or themes, here it is.

Works Like a Charm

Thanks, I have 300+ blog posts that need to be updated and this plugin solved the issues.

Great little plugin!

By nineplanetsllc on October 14, 2017

This is a lifesaver! We're using it as a temp fix we're having with srcset images not loading from a CDN properly. Thanks!

Nicely done!

By Zeshan Ahmed (zeshanshani) on November 11, 2016

I'm amazed how simple this plugin is. It didn't completely remove the 'srcset' attribute but only removed the extra image sizes it contains. I was using retina support, so it kept the 1x and 2x sizes in srcset but removed all other sizes. Perfect plugin! Huge thanks to the developers/contributors.

Great

Happy!

HOW ANNOYING was that low-resolution on retina issue? SOLVED!

By streetdogdigital on September 3, 2016

We had several sites with the issue on high-res mobile screens, with WordPress core serving up severely pixelated images on responsive themes. Ditto on @secludedsea comment above. Unacceptable, WordPress! Fix the issue and give us the control in future releases. Are you kidding? Also worked on 4.2.2 for whatever that's worth.

Fixed inconsistent image sizes in post lists on an iPad

By David (davidgrantham) on September 3, 2016

We had a problem after a theme update. After the update, and regenerating thumbnails using a plugin, images were consistently sized on a Windows desktop and a Surface Pro, but not on at least one iPad. On the iPad some featured images in post lists (widgets) were reduced in size, making the site look inconsistent. I don't know whether it was the theme, WordPress, or who-knows-what, but this plugin fixed that. Thank you!

Love it! Not a temporary fix for me

By soulshakepower on September 3, 2016

Since I am making my images already optimized, some with text on it, I don't want wp to display a fuzzy blurry picture by default on high res smartphones...

Thanks to the creator, please keep updating your plugin as it is a great asset, don't abandon it please! Cheers!

Effective fix for the responsive images bug.

By Azarea (atreidex) on September 3, 2016

This plugin is a quick and effective fix a wide range of conflicts caused by the responsive images. Thanks a lot!

Works fine

Using a very standard WordPress installation with the latest 2016 theme and nothing fancy. But all the images were broken on my retina iPad with iOS 8.1.3. Thanks for the temporary fix with this plugin.

Thank You!

WP 4.4 played havoc with my site and this beauty solves the blurred image one (both theme and now WP, were both fighting to make image responsive)

All I need now is to get the image library to display in grid mode and to be able to add images within posts/pages as worked prior to update... (feel free to make a plugin, it's apparently a common flaw which *may* be dealt with in 4.5)

1.1

  • Refactor plugin to one line of code.

1.0

  • Initial release.
