EVelum Safe Browsing
EVelum Safe Browsing
Description
Protect the digital privacy of those seeking help.
Reaching out for support – whether for addiction, mental health, or abuse of any kind – is a vulnerable step. It shouldn’t come with the risk of unintended exposure.
Unfortunately, many support sites lack effective tools to hide a visitor’s digital footprint. Standard “Quick Exit” buttons often fail to scrub history, leaving sensitive searches visible to others who might use or monitor the same device.
We cannot expect someone in a moment of crisis to be a cybersecurity expert or to navigate complex privacy settings perfectly.
EVelum bridges this gap. It provides a discreet safety layer that automatically masks browsing history and ensures a rapid, clean exit from the site.
Who is this for?
This plugin is vital for any organization helping vulnerable users who may be monitored:
Tech abuse & stalking: Protects victims from having their browsing history weaponized by abusers.
Addiction & recovery: Allows users to seek help without leaving a digital trail for family members to find.
Vulnerable children and young adults: Protects youth accessing resources in unsupportive, unsafe, or hostile households.
Trafficking & exploitation: Provides a safe, quick exit for high-risk individuals.
Key Features
Active Safety Mode: Prevents browser history logging for the session by intercepting navigation and replacing the history state. This effectively disables the “Back” button functionality for visited pages, preventing an abuser from reversing the user’s journey.
Quick Exit Button: A customizable button that is fixed to the screen on all pages, no matter where you scroll. It instantly redirects the user to a neutral site (Weather.com). When browser security settings allow, the neutral site will also open in a new tab, leaving the original tab redirected to safety.
Live Customizer: A real-time preview editor in the WP Admin to style, position, and label the exit button to match your website’s design.

Faq
No. This plugin operates at the browser level. It prevents the pages from appearing easily in the “Back” button history and provides a quick way to leave the site. It does not function as a VPN or Tor browser; ISP logs and router logs will still show the visit. We recommend adding a disclaimer to your site advising users to clear their history manually for complete safety. We have done the same in onscreen alerts.
If you wish to keep an existing quick-exit button, you can select “Yes” in the General Settings. The plugin will simply provide the Discreet Mode functionality (history blocking) without rendering a duplicate button on top of your existing one.
Standard user experience rules prioritize navigation ease, but in safety technology, “user-friendly” means “safe”. A typical quick-exit button fails to protect a user who is ten pages deep into the site – an abuser can still reverse through their history. To prevent this, our Discreet Mode intentionally blocks back navigation – but only if a visitor doesn’t opt out. This ensures that once a user leaves, their entire path is sealed off, rather than just the last page they visited.
