Filester plugin helps you easily manage WordPress files so that you don’t have to access directories via FTP or cPanel.
This plugin creates a new menu File Manager in your WordPress dashboard. From then on, you can view all server files, configuration, and media files on your current WordPress website.
You can edit, copy, upload/download files/folders to your server from File Manager section. This toolbar is similar to the settings in an FTP client. It allows you to preview, edit, upload, download, duplicate and delete files or folders.
With Filester, it’s easy to modify the auto-update mechanism with each new version of WordPress. You can quickly search for specific text or code within your WordPress files and replace it efficiently.
With built-in code editors, you can edit code files with syntax highlighting and code completion features for themes, plugins, and custom code snippets. It takes one click to download a plugin’s ZIP file to your local storage. It helps track changes made to files and revert to previous versions if needed.

Manual installation is easy and takes less than one minute.
- Download the plugin from wordpress.org, unpack it and upload the [Filester] folder to your wp-content/plugins/ directory.
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins‘ menu in WordPress.
- Go to your main WordPress menu > File Manager to use.

A few suggestions and bug report

This plugin is the best file manager for WP. Other paid file manager plugins also use elFinder, but they don't mention it on their page.
1. [Bug] When I want to create an archive, it shows the "Unable to create archives" error. I don't know why I should do.
2. [Bug] When I resize the file manager window, then I reload the page, it reverts to the default, and the resizing is not persistent.
3. How could I download multiple files at once without zipping them?
4. [Bug] The thumbnail for AVIF and WebP is not available.
5. It doesn't have a refresh icon to refresh without reloading the folder again.
6. Please add the features to the file manager and update to the newest version of elFinder.
7. Please add the option to sync media in the server directories with WP Media Library.

I tried some other plugins but Filester is for my purpose the best and very user friendly. This week I faced a small problem with previews of the files. After contacting Ninja Team they respond very quickly and precise. Problem was solved within very short time. Ninja Team, thanks for the support!
Best of the bunch

Tried a large number of plugins with upload function and paid for a pro version of a similar plugin. However that pro version had problems with shortcodes and compatibility with other plugins. Filester on the other hand performs perfectly both on the remote server and on the localhost without unnecessary extras.

Best file manager plugin. Forget about FTP as some servers make it tricky to access. It comes with handy features such as role permissions, max upload file size and others. Clean interface.
