Installation

This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

Using WordPress plugin installer :

Go to the Admin Dashboard > Plugins > Add New
From the top list select ‘Upload’
Point the Browse window to the plugin zip package
Activate the plugin in Admin Dashboard > Plugins

Using FTP :

Extract the zip package with the plugin
Upload the plugin directory to the wp-content/plugins/
Activate the plugin in Admin Dashboard > Plugins

Please note that Gantry Framework plugin doesn’t come up with the default theme. In order to download the Gantry Default theme please go to the Gantry Framework site.

Faq

What are the requirements of the plugin ?

We try to ensure that any Gantry theme and the Gantry Plugin specifically will work with any modern and secure server environment. The recommended minimum requirements are :

WordPress 5.2 or higher
PHP 5.6.20+ (7.3+ recommended)

Is there any documentation available ?

Yes of course! And it’s getting better and better with every day! Please visit our Gantry 5 Documentation site to get a better understanding on how Gantry 5 works. If you feel like some parts of documentation could be changed or you want to add something, please feel free to do so, as the whole documentation is placed on GitHub and anyone is free to contribute.

Where are the options of the plugin ?

Gantry 5 plugin is a framework working in the background providing the functionality to the Gantry powered themes, allowing them to control everything per-theme basis. You can download a basic Gantry theme from the official Gantry Framework site.

How can I test it ?

Once you downloaded and installed Gantry 5 plugin, please download also a default theme (that is intended to be used as a basis for building your own themes) from Gantry Framework site.

I made many websites using Gantry5 + Helium + Child theme

It was not manteined for long time, but now that it was taken by tiger12 it supports php 8.1

We can hope it will be developed as well as possible, the community is waiting for so long time some features...

I use it since my joomla days. I created at least 30 quite comlicated webs with this framework. Not so easy for the first time but complex. Advanced features. Thanks

Another wrapper framework theme takeover buildt on top of WordPress core APIs. And then behold, a templating system, twig, one of the many which failed such as Smarty and so on which adds to confusion and cut your legs when you have to do a simple modification you have to study yet another documentation to find what you need, and you end up needing the tag to allow you to insert a simple snippet of PHP code that you could do in a nanosecond in the core WordPress way. If you develop a thing in WordPress, please stick to the WordPress way of doing things. I simply can't stand the fact that if I edit header.php and footer.php of this theme I don't see <head> and <body> right away.

I use Gantry on many websites, along with Beaver Builder. It's a great framework that is so flexible and allows me to create totally custom designed websites with built in mobile support.

I wouldn't use anything but Gantry.

I wouldn't use anything but Gantry. I've been using Gantry on WordPress and Joomla for around 10 years. It simply works well and RocketTheme.com regularly updates the project. It's a little daunting at first, but it's well worth it once you get it. It is very good switching between Mobile and Desktop Versions. The menus work well on both size screens. That is just one great thing about Gantry. You won't be disappointed and you can always upgrade to one of their themes that use Gantry and save yourself a ton of styling work. Gantry, being free from Gantry.Org, that is the place to get it with their free themes if you know nothing about Gantry. Even their Free Themes are great. NEVER download any themes/templates from 3rd party sites unless you want Adware or worse injected into the code. Good luck with your website, especially if you don't use gantry.

Gantry5 é o melhor framework já criado. Utilizo no WordPress e no JMLA. Todos desenvolvedores deveriam dar uma atenção maior ao framework, pois posso criar templates diferentes pra cada link, cada página, cada post. É ilimitada a possibilidade e totalmente grátis!

Gantry is Great

I've been using Gantry with RocketTheme templates on Joomla for years and a couple of years ago I started moving some of my customers to WordPress. Gantry works great on both environments (WordPress & Joomla) and is easy to customize for great looking sites. It is a simple block tool that is very powerful and easy to modify using the UI and RocketTheme's custom template coding. RocketTheme support for their templates and Gantry is also great.

I have made several websites with the gantry 5 framework and themes from rocket theme. I started building joomla websites about 10 years ago (rockettheme is the top provider of joomla templates) and then have moved to almost exclusively to building wordpress websites. What I like is I get the powerful flexibility to build each page layout as needed (similar to a joomla sites) and the ability to add several different particles (slideshows, accordions, tabs, photo galleries and more) that are included in every theme that uses the gantry 5 framework, so I can keep the installation of wordpress 3rd party plugins to a minimum (allowing the site to be easier to support and more stable).
