This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.

In WordPress:

Go to Plugins > Add New > search for :: Get First Image Set As Featured Image ::
Press Install Now for the Get First Image Set As Featured Image plugin
Press Activate Plugin

To install manually instead:

Upload the get_first_image_set_as_featured Image directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress

WP 4.9.5 - installed & activated - nothing happens. Edit Post - nothing. Edit Post > Set Featured Image - nothing. Waste of time.

Plugin doesn't work on 4.8.1, nothing is happening after activating the plugin. Also, the user interface doesn't exist and it's not possible to review or manage plugin's action.

Plugin works perfectly with WP 4.7.5.

It's not doing anything and there are no directions

I installed it. Nothing happened. Looks like it is unsupported. Questions go unanswered in the support forum.

Perhaps I'm ignorant, but if there's an image within the post, then this plugin is supposed to assign that image as the "featured/thumbnail image". It doesn't.

My Dear Friend, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I have searched endlessly for a plugin which simply takes the 1st image in a post and sets it as the featured image automatically!

I've tried all the other plugins which purport to do this, but none of them work at all! Some even offer paid "premium" versions, when the basic functionality doesn't even work LOL...

Just shows that sometimes the obscure small plugins with barely any downloads are often THE BEST!!

Again, thank you so much, I am so happy to finally have this simple function! You have no idea how long I've been searching for something like this!

If this plugin wasn't free I'd pay for it! No joke! 😉
