Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of this plugin, log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “Google for WooCommerce” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found this plugin you can view details about it such as the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by simply clicking “Install Now”.

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading the plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application. The WordPress codex contains instructions on how to do this here.

Release and roadmap notes available on the WooCommerce Developers Blog

What is Google Merchant Center?

Google Merchant Center is like a digital storefront for your products on Google. It’s where you upload and manage information about your products, like titles, descriptions, images, prices, and availability. This data is used to create product listings that can appear across Google.

Why should I connect to Google Merchant Center?

By syncing your product information to Google Merchant Center, your products can appear in relevant Google searches, Shopping tab, image searches, and even on other platforms like YouTube. When running Performance Max campaigns, Google Merchant Center ensures that shoppers see the most up-to-date and accurate information about your product feed, reducing confusion and improving the chances of a purchase.

Will my deals and promotions display on Google?

To show your coupons and promotions on Google Shopping listings, make sure you’re using the latest version of Google for WooCommerce. When you create or update a coupon in your WordPress dashboard under Marketing > Coupons, you’ll see a Channel Visibility settings box on the right: select “Show coupon on Google” to enable it. Learn more about managing promotions for Google for WooCommerce. This feature is currently available in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

What is Product Sync?

Product Sync is a feature fully integrated into WooCommerce’s management platform that automatically lets you sync your product feed to Google Merchant Center. It will sync all your WooCommerce product data, and you can also add or edit products individually or in bulk. To ensure products are approved by Google, check that your product feed includes the following information:

  • General product information
  • Unique product identifiers
  • Data requirements for specific categories (auto-assigned by Google):
    • Apparel & Accessories
    • Media
    • Books

Where do I manage my product feed and my Google Ads campaigns?

You can manage and edit all of your products and your Google Ads campaigns right from your WooCommerce dashboard and on the WooCommerce Mobile App.

Where will my products appear?

Once you start running a Performance Max campaign, your approved products will reach more shoppers to help grow your business by being shown on Google Search, Google Maps, the Shopping tab, Gmail, Youtube, the Google Display Network, and Discover feed.

What are Performance Max campaigns?

Performance Max campaigns help you combine your expertise with Google AI to reach your most valuable customers and drive sales. Just set your goals and budget and Google AI will get your ads seen by the right customers at the right time across Google Search, Google Maps, the Shopping tab, Gmail, Youtube, the Google Display Network, and Discover feed.

How much do Performance Max campaigns cost?

Performance Max campaigns are pay-per-click, meaning you only pay when someone clicks on your ads. To get the best results and ensure your products reach the right customers, we recommend starting with the suggested Google for WooCommerce minimum daily budget for your Performance Max campaign. This helps jumpstart your campaign and drive early conversions. You can always adjust your budget later as you see what works best for your business.

Can I sync my products and run Performance Max campaigns on Google for WooCommerce at the same time?

Yes, you can run both at the same time, and we recommend you do! Once you sync your store it’s automatically listed on Google, so you can choose to run a paid Performance Max campaign as soon as you’d like. In the US, advertisers who sync their products to Google and run Google Ads Performance Max campaigns have seen an average of over 50% increase in clicks and over 100% increase in impressions in both their product listings and their ads on the Shopping tab.

How does Google for WooCommerce help me drive sales?

With Google for WooCommerce, you can serve the best-performing ads more often, by using Google AI to pull headlines, images, product details, and more from your product feed and find more relevant customers. Your campaigns will learn and optimize in real time – to help deliver better performance and boost your ROI.

What are Enhanced conversions?

Enhanced conversions is a feature that can improve the accuracy of your conversion measurement and unlock more powerful bidding. It supplements your existing conversion tags by sending hashed first-party conversion data from your website to Google in a privacy-safe way.

Which countries are available for Google for WooCommerce?

For Performance Max campaigns, learn more about supported countries and currencies here.

What is Multi-Country Advertising?

Multi-Country Advertising enables you to create a single Google Ads campaign that targets multiple countries at once. Google for WooCommerce automatically populates eligible countries from your Google Merchant Center account into the plug-in ads campaign creation flow.

Can I enable Multi-Country Advertising on my existing campaigns?

If you created a campaign before this feature launched, you’ll need to create a new campaign to target new countries with Multi-Country Advertising. Learn more.

How is my ads budget split between the different countries?

Identify the best performing targeted countries with the help of Google AI, to make your ads reach the right shoppers at the right time.

Which countries can I target?

You can only select the countries that you’re targeting on Google Merchant Center. Your target countries must be eligible for both Google Merchant Center and Google Ads.

To allow your products to appear in all relevant locations, make sure you’ve correctly configured your shipping for countries where your products can be delivered. Keep in mind that shipping services can cover multiple countries. Learn more about multi-country shipping.

Great for Merchant Center feeds, but conversion tracking creates conflicts with

By virdislucas on July 8, 2026

I’ve spent several weeks testing this plugin on a live WooCommerce store together with Google Ads, Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager.

The plugin does an excellent job syncing products with Google Merchant Center and generating the product feed. Unfortunately, the tracking side of the plugin causes several problems.

Here are the main issues I encountered:

  • The plugin automatically creates Google Ads conversion actions after connecting an existing Google Ads account, even when I explicitly selected that I already have campaigns and an existing tracking setup.
  • During the campaign creation process, it immediately tries to create Google Ads campaigns instead of simply allowing Merchant Center synchronization and statistics.
  • Purchase tracking appears to be sent automatically by the plugin, even when I use Google Tag Manager (GTM4WP) as my only tracking solution.
  • There is no clear option to completely disable all conversion tracking while keeping only the product feed functionality.
  • Even with Enhanced Conversions disabled inside the plugin, purchase-related data still appears to be transmitted, making it difficult to understand which source is sending conversions.
  • The automatically generated conversion actions create conflicts with existing GTM implementations and can result in duplicate purchase events or very difficult debugging.
  • The plugin mixes Merchant Center, Google Ads tracking and campaign management into one package. Many advanced users only need Merchant Center synchronization and product feeds.

My current setup is:

  • WooCommerce
  • Google Tag Manager (GTM4WP)
  • Google Analytics 4
  • Google Ads conversion tracking through GTM
  • Google Merchant Center

In this setup I want GTM to be the only source of conversion tracking, while the plugin should only manage the product feed.

Suggestions:

  • Add a “Feed Only” mode.
  • Allow disabling all Google Ads conversion tracking.
  • Do not automatically create Google Ads conversion actions.
  • Do not automatically create campaigns unless the user explicitly requests it.
  • Separate Merchant Center functionality from Google Ads tracking.
  • Provide clearer documentation about which events are sent automatically and how to disable them.

The feed functionality is very good, but the automatic tracking behavior makes the plugin difficult to use together with professional GTM implementations.

The worst plugin I've ever used

By latti (niyht) on July 4, 2026

It crashed my MySQL by running the "failed action scheduler" process exactly 7.7 million times, congratulations to the WooCommerce team on this; they’ve created an excellent plugin.

Great support

Best support ever!

By cristianleana on April 8, 2026

I got the plugin from the woocommerce website to be able to show my products on google listings and also to connect my website to my YouTube Channel. Last part didn't work, so I contacted the support from the woocommerce website on the live chat function. And the engineer that answered was THE NICEST GUY EVER. He stayed with me over 30 minutes and walked me through many troubleshoots. After I changed the ownership email of the YouTube account to the same email as I have on wordpress it worked. Then another problem arised, products didn't show on my youtube channel. Again the guy opened a ticket for me and in 3-4 days came back to explain that the products are reviewed individually and that was true, because they started to appear 1 by 1 on my shop section on youtube.

He asked me for a review here though, but on woocommerce site it has a better rating than here. I don't know why, but I give the review here, where the IT guy said. At least that's what I can do for how nice he was!

Critical Errors

By berkaycengiz on March 25, 2026

This plugin caused critical errors on our website and significantly disrupted normal operations. After activation, we encountered repeated site crashes and instability issues that directly impacted our business.

It is clear that the plugin requires serious review, testing, and updates. Stability and compatibility checks seem insufficient, especially for live production environments.

Until these issues are properly addressed and resolved, we cannot recommend using this plugin.

3.9.3 – 2026-09-03

  • Fix – Stop retrying every product against a rejected authentication token during sync; fail the sync run on the first authentication error instead.
  • Fix – Show a single merged issue row with the combined applicable countries for a product synced to multiple feeds, instead of duplicate rows with repeated country codes.
  • Update – Drive the Merchant Center product status refresh from paginated product list requests instead of a report plus one request per product, and raise the write batch size to its recommended maximum, cutting the requests made to Google.
  • Update – Pause product and coupon sync, and show a reconnect notice when the WordPress.com connection has no owner user or the Connect Server rejects the site’s token, instead of sending requests that are always rejected.

3.9.2 – 2026-08-31

  • Add – Google Ads credits offer text to dashboard.
  • Fix – Prevent VAT from being removed or added twice when syncing tax-inclusive product prices.
  • Fix – Don’t block YouTube onboarding when channel details can’t be retrieved

3.9.1 – 2026-08-24

  • Add – Automatically add a new market in the Primary market when its configuration matches the Primary market configuration.
  • Add – Show type-specific error snackbars when GenAI asset generation fails, including a dedicated message for unsupported page languages
  • Fix – Prevent a country from being assigned to both the Primary market and a secondary market at the same time.
  • Fix – Keep a market with flat shipping intact instead of silently deleting it when its rate is edited to match the Primary market or when the store’s shipping method changes. Existing per-country markets are migrated automatically on upgrade.
  • Fix – Return the complete, up-to-date market data immediately after creating or editing a market, instead of a stale or incomplete response.
  • Fix – Show each market’s own currency for its shipping rate and threshold, and refresh the Markets table immediately after saving, without needing to reload the page.
  • Fix – Ensure that deleting a market on a multilingual store does not add it back to the Primary market, instead of deleting it.
  • Fix – Removing a country from the Primary market’s audience no longer leaves orphaned shipping rate/time rows behind for that country.
  • Fix – Stop a secondary market’s stored shipping method from drifting out of sync with the store’s global shipping setting, which could silently skip it from syncing to Merchant Center.
  • Tweak – Bump WordPress “tested up to” version 7.1.
  • Tweak – Bump WordPress “requires at least” version 6.9.
  • Update – Always show the “Add market” button, and choose a market’s country from a tree-select list grouped by continent.
  • Update – Re-designed Account connection settings.
  • Dev – Remove inactive google-manager flow from the connection test page.

See changelog for all versions.
