Installation

Installing Intercom on your WordPress site takes just a few minutes.

You can find full instructions on signing up and installing Intercom using the WordPress plugin here.

If you’re already an Intercom customer, you can also find instructions in the in-app setup guide or app store.

The first thing you’ll need to do is install and activate the plugin – you must be using WordPress v4.9.0 or higher and have the ability to install plugins in order to use this method.

Note: This plugin injects a Javascript snippet on your website frontend containing dynamic user data. Some caching solutions will cache entire pages and should not be used with this plugin. Doing so may cause conversations to be delivered to the wrong user.

Worked smoothly at two sites

I've installed Intercom at two sites now using this plugin, and have found it to work quite smoothly, though customizing the "launcher" beyond shape and color requires working with the javascript API, which is not currently facilitated by the plugin.

Dont no why other gave negative but i runs smooth for me no issues. Also, the basic chat without marketing plans is free forever.

Elegant but it made my website slow

I installed it since i see this product at most of the sites. it is elegant and customizable to a point. biggest reason about why i removed it is, it made the website loading 2-3 seconds slower according to gtmetrix and pingdom. I exchanged mails with the support about it. They responded and they asked for screenshots, I sent it. They said "interesting" talked about asyncing, and they claim their script is not effecting the site. but when I look at the requests, Intercom hangs to sie with a too much different services and calls. Then, after awhile they send a response that their developer said the values are normal and the times I am seeing are within their ranges, the messenger itself is being loaded within a second and the additional delay is with establishing a web socket connection, the web socket connection isn't blocking any other requests on the page and are used to create a real time connection with the messenger. They said they believe the tests I am running are inadvertently including them although realistically no one on your page is going to notice any issues since the connection is made behind the scenes. But whenever i disable the plugin, loading time of my website loaded 2-3 seconds faster everytime according to pingdom and gtmetrix. And this is more real to me than some statements.

I have installed the app, gone through the supposed "onboarding" and I came to the last page at the bottom is says ... "You won’t see the Intercom Messenger until you start a free trial" and you need to provide your 'credit card' to access the 14 day free trial ... it also says free forever, this is sending very mixed messages. This is not I find this level of untruth unpalatable, marketing 2000 style in the hope you will forget to unsubscribe and they will get a payment from you. This product should not be on the WordPress repository.

Disappointed

I have tried using this on previous versions of WordPress as well and to no luck have I ever been able to get this to work. I have made sure to follow the provided directions from Intercom and made sure any caching or minifying options are kept off.

If someone can help me get this thing working then I'd be more then happy to change my rating, otherwise I cant see any reason to change it from 1 star.
