Invent Chat Widget lets you connect a WordPress site to an Invent assistant with a simple settings page and automatically load the chat widget on the public site.

You need an Invent account and an Assistant ID from https://www.useinvent.com to use this plugin.

After installing the plugin, you can:

  • paste your Invent Assistant ID
  • automatically load the chat widget on the public site

This plugin is intended for customers who use the Invent service and want the standard WordPress plugin installation flow.

External services

This plugin connects to the Invent service to render the chat experience.

It uses:

  • https://www.useinvent.com/button.js for the widget runtime
  • https://www.useinvent.com/e/... to display the chat interface

The plugin does not contact Invent until a site administrator saves an Assistant ID and the widget is rendered on a public page. When the plugin is configured with an Assistant ID, it injects the standard Invent widget snippet on the public site. This causes visitor browsers to request the hosted widget runtime from Invent and open the Invent chat interface.

When visitors use the widget, Invent may process:

  • the configured Assistant ID
  • chat messages submitted through the widget
  • technical/browser metadata needed to operate the widget and chat session
  • page/referrer context associated with the widget session

The Invent service is required for the plugin to function.

  1. Install and activate Invent Chat Widget from the WordPress plugin directory.
  2. Go to Settings > Invent Chat Widget.
  3. Paste your Invent Assistant ID.
  4. Save your changes.
Do I need to edit my theme?

No. The plugin injects the widget automatically.

Where do I get my Assistant ID?

Open your assistant in the Invent dashboard, go to Widget > WordPress, and copy the Assistant ID.

Is an Invent account required?

Yes. The plugin requires an Invent account and Assistant ID because the chat experience is provided by the Invent service.

Do I need a ZIP file to use this plugin?

No. End users install it from the WordPress plugin screen like any other plugin.

Does this plugin include WooCommerce features?

No. This v1 only installs the Invent widget.
