Jigar Pandya – Similar Content Scanner
Jigar Pandya – Similar Content Scanner
Description
Jigar Pandya – Similar Content Scanner compares the published posts and pages on your own WordPress site and flags pairs that look alike, so you can review overlapping content before it piles up.
It runs entirely on your server, using PHP’s built-in similar_text() function to compare titles and body content. There are no external API calls and no data ever leaves your site.
How It Works
Choose which public post types to scan, set separate similarity thresholds for titles and content, and set a minimum content length to exclude short boilerplate text (like repeated contact blurbs or notices). Then run a scan from your WordPress dashboard.
Flagged pairs appear in a results table with direct links to edit each item, and a “Similar?” column is added to your post and page list tables so flagged items are visible at a glance.
The plugin only identifies potential matches — it never deletes, merges, or edits content automatically. You decide whether a flagged pair should be rewritten, consolidated, or left as-is.

Faq
It compares your own published posts and pages and flags pairs with highly similar titles or body content, so you can review the overlap.
No. The plugin is designed around comparing selected content within your WordPress website. It is different from services that search the public web for plagiarism or copied content. All comparison happens locally on your server using PHP’s built-in similar_text() function — no external requests are made.
No. The plugin identifies potential matches for review. You decide whether content should be kept, updated, rewritten, consolidated, or otherwise managed.
Yes. The plugin provides separate settings for title similarity and content similarity.
Titles and body content can have different similarity characteristics. Two pages may have similar titles but different content, or different titles while containing similar information. Separate thresholds give you greater control over the scan.
It defines the minimum number of characters required before content is considered for comparison. Posts shorter than that are skipped, since very short content tends to trigger false positives.
Yes. You can select which of your public post types (posts and pages) to include in your scan.
It means that the content pair meets the configured similarity criteria. It should be treated as a signal for further review rather than an automatic instruction to remove content.
Not necessarily. Review the purpose, audience, search intent, and information provided by both pieces of content before deciding whether any action is needed.
Yes. Related pages can legitimately contain similar information while serving different purposes or audiences.
There is no required schedule. You can run a scan after publishing new content, during a content audit, following a migration, or whenever you want to investigate potential overlap.
The scan only runs when you click “Run Scan Now” in the admin — it does not run on the frontend and has no effect on site visitors. On sites with a very large number of posts, the scan may take a few seconds to complete since it compares each pair once.
No. The plugin focuses on content similarity detection. It can complement a broader SEO and content-audit workflow but is not intended to replace a complete SEO solution.
Yes. Similarity analysis can help editorial teams identify potential overlap between content created by different contributors.
Yes. Scan results can help you identify potentially similar content that may deserve further investigation during a broader content-maintenance process.
