MarqueeX – Smooth Marquee Slider, News Ticker & Post Marquee for Block Editor & Elementor
MarqueeX – Smooth Marquee Slider, News Ticker & Post Marquee for Block Editor & Elementor
Description
MarqueeX builds continuously scrolling content in WordPress — logo carousels, announcement bars, news tickers and post or product marquees — with native widgets for Elementor and native blocks for the block editor.
The motion is CSS keyframes, not JavaScript. Each widget script is under a kilobyte, and scripts and styles are registered rather than enqueued, so they load only on pages that actually render a marquee.
Blocks for the block editor
- Text Marquee – Scroll custom messages or live post titles, with full typography control
- Image Marquee – Logo carousels, product strips and galleries in an infinite slider
- News Ticker – A fixed label badge beside continuously scrolling headlines
- Post Marquee – Posts, custom post types and WooCommerce products as scrolling cards with featured image, category, title, author and date
- Infinite Slider – A general-purpose scroller you fill with any inner blocks
Every block is scoped to its own class, so a block and its matching Elementor widget can sit on the same page without their styles colliding.
Widgets for Elementor
- Image Marquee – Scrolling image galleries, client logos and portfolio strips with hover effects
- Text Marquee – Promotional banners, announcement scrollers and text loops with full typography control
- News Ticker – Breaking-news feeds, live updates and stock-style tickers
- Post Marquee – Posts, custom post types and WooCommerce products with query controls, featured images and post meta
- Animated Heading – Headlines that cycle through phrases with Slide, Slide Horizontal or Typing animation
- Animated Word Roller – A fixed headline with a rotating word beside it
- Testimonial Marquee – Reviews and quotes scrolling past, with avatar, name, role and star rating
- Team Members Marquee – Staff photos with name and role in a continuous strip
Controls you get on every marquee
- Horizontal and vertical scrolling, in either direction
- Adjustable speed, with per-device values
- Pause on hover
- Edge fade masking
- Full typography, colour, spacing and border controls
- Responsive settings for desktop, tablet and mobile, using breakpoints you set
- Custom CSS per block
Shortcodes
[marqueex_slider], `[marqueex_ticker]` and `[marqueex_infinite]` are available for themes and page builders without a dedicated integration.
What Pro adds
MarqueeX is fully usable for free — no marquee limit, no watermark, no feature that stops working. MarqueeX Pro adds:
- Scroll interactions – Visitors can spin the mouse wheel over a marquee to speed it up or reverse it, or drag it to scrub through, with momentum on release. Works in Elementor and in the block editor.
- Advanced post query – Hand-pick exactly which posts scroll, or include and exclude by author and taxonomy term
- 8 more Animated Heading animations – 3D Rotation, Construct, Twist, Line, Wave, Swing, Tilt and Lean
- Gradient and image-masked heading text
- 4 more Word Roller transitions – Horizontal, Fade, Slide and Zoom
- Post Marquee card layouts – Six content placements, plus Overlay, Blury and Lighten text treatments
Works well for
- News and magazine sites – Breaking-news tickers and scrolling headlines
- Online stores – Product strips, promotional bars and logo walls
- Business sites – Client logos, testimonials and latest posts
- Portfolios – Project strips and image galleries
- Landing pages – Announcement bars and calls to action

Faq
Yes, and it stays usable for free. There is no limit on how many marquees you build, no watermark, and no feature that stops working after a period. Pro adds extra controls; it does not switch the free ones off.
Scroll interactions (mouse wheel and drag-to-scroll), the advanced post query builder, eight extra Animated Heading animations, gradient and image-masked heading text, four extra Word Roller transitions, and the Post Marquee card layout controls. The full list is on the pricing page.
Yes — eight native widgets: Image Marquee, Text Marquee, Post Marquee, News Ticker, Animated Heading, Animated Word Roller, Testimonial Marquee and Team Members Marquee. Elementor 3.5 or newer.
Yes — five native blocks, which also work in Full Site Editing themes. You do not need a page builder.
Yes. Block styles are scoped to their own classes, so a block and its matching Elementor widget can even sit on the same page without their CSS colliding.
Yes. Products are a public custom post type, so the Post Marquee widget and block both list them as a source, with featured image, title and meta.
Yes, any public custom post type.
Yes — horizontal or vertical, either direction, with per-device speed values, pause on hover, and edge fade masking.
Text, links, images, WordPress posts, custom post types and WooCommerce products. The Infinite Slider block additionally takes any inner blocks you like.
It is built not to. The animation is CSS keyframes rather than JavaScript, each Elementor widget script is under a kilobyte, and assets are registered rather than enqueued — so a page with no marquee on it loads nothing from MarqueeX.
It should. MarqueeX styles are scoped to its own classes and inherit your theme’s typography unless you override it.

Changelog
0.6.0 [September 12, 2026]
- Added: Testimonial Marquee and Team Members Marquee Elementor widgets. Both were already written and built; they were simply never registered. They are free.
- Added: Pro features are now visible rather than hidden. The eight extra Animated Heading animations, the gradient and image-mask text effects, the four extra Word Roller transitions and the Post Marquee card layouts all appear in their dropdowns marked “(Pro)”, instead of being silently absent for anyone without a license.
- Added: A first-run onboarding panel above the settings tabs, pointing you at a first marquee in the block editor or Elementor. Activation lands there; dismiss it and it never comes back.
- Added: An Elementor version check. MarqueeX needs Elementor 3.5 or newer; below that the widgets never registered, with nothing to say why.
- Added: Responsive breakpoints are now editable from the Compatibility tab. They already drove the media queries around block CSS but could not be changed from the admin.
- Removed: Schema.org structured data output. It declared the marquee to be the page’s main content and, when the scrolling text contained a word like “sale” or “offer”, emitted a schema.org
Offerfor a product that may not exist. Fabricated structured data is a risk to your site’s search standing, not ours. - Changed: Meta description generation is now off by default and has its own setting. It also no longer writes plugin marketing copy into your page description when there is no marquee text to summarize.
- Changed:
performance.lazy_loading,performance.cache_styles,compatibility.theme_compatibilityandcompatibility.plugin_compatibilitywere stored and rendered as switches but read by nothing, and the admin drew a “performance score” from them. All removed.performance.minify_cssis now actually implemented. - Fixed: Block detection for the attribution comment and meta description matched only the legacy Infinite Slider, so neither worked with the four blocks added in 0.5.0.
- Fixed: The Settings submenu opened the default tab instead of Settings.
- Improved: One upgrade destination and one locked-feature card style across the whole plugin, replacing seven hard-coded links (one stale, one a dead
#) and three different card designs. - Improved: Admin bundle is 102 KB smaller. Source maps are no longer shipped, removing 2.2 MB from the download.
0.5.4 [August 23, 2026]
- Confirmed: Tested up to WordPress 7.1.
0.5.3 [August 1, 2026]
- Improved: Tags, title and short description optimized for search relevancy on WordPress.org.
0.5.2 [June 30, 2026]
- Added: Pause on hover now works together with mouse wheel and drag-to-scroll (Pro) — hovering pauses the auto-scroll while visitors can still scroll the marquee by wheel or drag.
- Improved: Merged the separate “Mouse Wheel Control” and “Drag to Scroll” block settings into a single “Interactive Scrolling” panel for a cleaner editor experience.
0.5.1 [June 30, 2026]
- Fixed: Mouse wheel & drag-to-scroll (Pro) and block styles not loading when a marquee block is embedded into another page via a “page content renderer” — the license flag and Design-tab CSS now load whenever a MarqueeX block renders, regardless of which page outputs it.
0.5.0 [June 27, 2026]
- Added: Native Gutenberg blocks for Text Marquee, Image Marquee, News Ticker, and Post Marquee — bringing the most popular MarqueeX widgets to the WordPress block editor.
- Added: Mouse wheel scroll control and drag-to-scroll (Pro) for the Post Marquee block, with sensitivity, momentum, and scroll-sets-direction options.
- Improved: Post Marquee block pulls featured image, category, title, author, and date dynamically with full post-query controls.
- Improved: Every block’s styles are now scoped to its own block class so they can never conflict with the matching Elementor widget on the same page.
- Fixed: Post Marquee block editor preview error and trailing empty space at the end of the marquee loop.
0.4.0 [June 26, 2026]
- Added: Mouse wheel scroll control for Infinite Slider Block (Pro) with sensitivity, momentum, and scroll-sets-direction options.
- Added: Drag-to-scroll for Infinite Slider Block (Pro) with flick momentum.
- Fixed: Pause on hover in Infinite Slider when wheel or drag control is enabled.
- Fixed: CSS builder state leaking declarations across blocks and widgets.
- Improved: Responsive CSS honors user-configured breakpoints; admin settings use deep-merged defaults.
- Improved: Elementor widgets refactored with shared MarqueeSource trait and optimized production assets.
- Improved: Build toolchain upgrades (@wordpress/scripts 32, antd 6, motion 12, Sass @use migration).
