How do I add a WhatsApp button?

Go to Floating Buttons > WhatsApp, enable the button, enter your phone number in international format (e.g. 447700900000), and save. Spaces, dashes and a leading + are removed for you. The pre-filled message is optional.

Can I show buttons only on mobile?

Yes. Go to Floating Buttons > General and set “Show On” to “Mobile Only”.

Does this plugin slow down my site?

No. The plugin loads a small CSS file and a tiny vanilla JavaScript file. No external libraries or fonts are loaded.

Where are settings stored?

All settings are stored in WordPress wp_options. No custom database tables are created.

What happens when I uninstall the plugin?

All plugin settings are completely removed from the database.

WhatsApp button doesn't work on mobile – no support response

By thphm079 (thpham079) on October 16, 2026

I really wanted to like this plugin. The design is clean, the settings are easy to use, and it looks great on the website. But unfortunately, the WhatsApp button has a serious bug that makes it unusable on mobile devices.

The problem:

When you click the WhatsApp button on a phone, WhatsApp shows an error message saying the number is not registered on WhatsApp. However, the same number works perfectly fine when entered directly in the browser.

After investigating, I found that the plugin generates a link with an invisible character (Zero-Width Space, <span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: 0.8rem; text-align: initial;">%E2%80%8B</span>) right after the phone number:

//wa.me/4920888352220%E2%80%8B?text=...

This invisible character prevents WhatsApp from recognizing the number on mobile devices.

Additional issue:

The "Pre-filled Message" field cannot be left empty – the plugin automatically inserts "Hello! I would like to know more." This automatic message seems to be the source of the invisible character. There is no way to remove it.

Support:

I contacted the support team about this bug several days ago, but I have not received any response yet. That is very disappointing.

Conclusion:

The plugin looks good and has potential, but the WhatsApp button bug makes it unusable for me. I hope the developer fixes this issue soon and improves their support response time.

1.0.6

  • Fixed: The WhatsApp link now holds only the digits of the phone number. Invisible characters, spaces or a + pasted with the number made WhatsApp on phones answer “not on WhatsApp”.
  • Fixed: The pre-filled WhatsApp message can be left empty again (it was filled back in with the default). An empty message opens the chat without text.
  • Fixed: Invisible characters are removed from the pre-filled message.

1.0.5

  • Improved: Wider dropdowns on the settings screen so labels are never cut off by the arrow
  • Improved: Larger, easier to read “Select Color” buttons
  • Changed: Removed the “Tested up to” line from the plugin header (it belongs in readme.txt only)

1.0.4

  • New: A small, dismissible review request for administrators, shown after a week of use on the Dashboard, Plugins and plugin screens only

1.0.3

  • Added: Plugin homepage and documentation links

  • Improved: Button styles now reset theme padding, margin and line-height

1.0.1

  • Fixed: Added defer loading strategy for frontend script
