PegasusCo 3D Previews for WooCommerce
PegasusCo 3D Previews for WooCommerce
Description
PegasusCo 3D Previews for WooCommerce adds a 3D preview to WooCommerce product pages. Assign GLB models to simple products or individual variations so the preview follows the shopper’s selected size or finish. Shoppers can also switch variations inside an open preview. Optional USDZ files provide a prepared model for Apple’s Quick Look on supported devices.
Shoppers can rotate and zoom product models, then open AR on supported phones. Desktop shoppers can scan a QR code that keeps the selected product variation. The plugin bundles its viewer and QR code software locally. It does not require an account, subscription, analytics, or a hosted model service. Product models are public files served by your WordPress site or configured CDN.
Model requirements
Self-contained GLB 2.0 (no external buffer/image URLs), maximum 100 MB and within your host’s lower upload limit. Keep production models substantially smaller for mobile downloads. Asset units must represent metres and its origin/orientation must suit the intended mounting surface.
USDZ is optional: without it, model-viewer generates an iOS file at launch. For controlled iPhone results, use a prepared and tested USDZ. Upload validation requires PHP ZipArchive, a stored/uncompressed archive, a USD root layer first, and permitted model/texture entries. Header/container checks do not validate artistic quality, anchoring, dimensions or every USD feature.
AR limitations
Android AR can use WebXR or Google’s Scene Viewer on a compatible ARCore phone with Google Play Services for AR; Scene Viewer also accepts vertical-placement requests for wall products. Unsupported devices retain 3D viewing. Android and iPhone wall placement depends on the model, device, and native viewer; ar-placement=”wall” does not guarantee wall anchoring. Check both on physical phones before enabling AR. AR does not simulate accurate mirror reflections or LED lighting in a room.
Compatibility and scope
Requires WordPress 6.8 or later, PHP 8.1 or later, and WooCommerce. Test compatibility with your theme, cache/optimization plugins, and devices. Product assignments use the classic WooCommerce product editor. Storefront previews support classic variation forms, the Add to Cart Form block, and the Add to Cart + Options block with its native variation pills or dropdowns. The preview is added beside these product blocks automatically; [your_ar_products] can also be placed in a Shortcode block. Add to Cart + Options follows storefront changes and offers model-supported choices inside the preview. Preview changes in this block do not alter the purchase selection; use Change size or finish to return to its storefront controls. QR links preserve the selected attributes. Block support is tested with WooCommerce 11.1.1; check customised themes and future WooCommerce releases. The experimental block-based admin product editor was retired in WooCommerce 11.0.
The plugin does not create or convert 3D models, guarantee AR behaviour on a particular device, replace your product gallery, or include a licensing service, hosted model service, analytics, or automatic plugin updates. Mirror reflections and room lighting are not simulated. Deactivation and uninstall preserve product model assignments and uploaded media.
Support
For help with installing the plugin, assigning models, or investigating a reproducible plugin issue, email hello@pegasusco.com.au. Include your WordPress, WooCommerce, and PHP versions, the steps to reproduce the issue, and relevant screenshots. Do not email passwords, private customer information, or secret access links.
Support covers this plugin’s documented features. It does not include 3D modelling or model repair, custom theme development, general WordPress or hosting support, or guarantees that a particular model will work with every phone or AR viewer. Device and theme compatibility should be checked on your own store before enabling AR for shoppers.
Privacy
Plugin assets, QR generation and models are served locally (or via your WordPress media/CDN configuration). No analytics or account calls. Choosing native AR may launch the device’s Apple/Google viewer. Public models remain retrievable by visitors.
Third-party software
The plugin’s integration source is included in this ZIP. The bundled, minified Google model-viewer 4.3.1 runtime’s source code is available at Google model-viewer 4.3.1. Source repositories for the other bundled libraries: Three.js, Lit, Draco, Basis Universal, QR Code Generator, gainmap-js, and fflate. Version and license details are in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and the assets/vendor license files. No third-party WordPress plugin code is included.
Installation
- Install and activate WooCommerce.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, upload the plugin ZIP, install it, and activate PegasusCo 3D Previews for WooCommerce.
- For a simple product, edit the product and use Product data > 3D & AR to select its GLB model. Add a USDZ model and poster image if available.
- For a variable product, open Variations and assign each variation its own model files. Save the variations and update the product. Models are not inherited from the parent product or another variation.
- Open View in 3D directly on the product page, then choose a model-supported variation inside the preview. You can also place [your_ar_products id=”123″] in a Shortcode block. Variable-product shortcodes can preview model-supported choices directly; matching classic forms also synchronise purchase selections.
- Enable AR only after checking the model’s scale, orientation, finish, and placement on the intended physical devices. Use HTTPS for phone testing.
Only variations with a saved GLB appear in the preview controls; USDZ remains optional. View in 3D opens the selected supported variation or the closest available preview choice, without requiring purchase options first. If the purchase selection has no model, a notice explains that the preview explores other available variations. The preview controls identify the displayed choice; parent models are never inherited. Products with no variation GLBs keep the preview disabled. Automatic matches recognised storefront colour swatches and text buttons, with labelled dropdowns as the fallback. Text options such as Size are never inferred to be colours from their background. In Product data > Variations > 3D preview controls, choose Automatic, Dropdown, Text buttons or Colour swatches for each attribute, then Update the product. These settings only affect the preview. Colour swatches require configured storefront colour chips and fall back to a labelled dropdown when those colours are unavailable. Store owners can expand Model delivery diagnostics in each simple product or variation to check saved file URLs, sizes, MIME types, and server HTTP headers. On the product page, signed-in product editors can expand Device diagnostics for the current selection and run browser HEAD checks. These checks are on demand; a native AR app cannot report its final result back to the page. Save file changes before running editor diagnostics.
No external account or service registration is needed. Upload the individual model and poster files through the product editor; do not upload the model pack ZIPs.

Renamed to Your AR Products. Existing plugin folder, data keys and legacy shortcode are retained for in-place updates. Upload the new ZIP and choose Replace current with uploaded; do not install a second copy.
QR generation is now bundled in viewer.js and rendered as inline SVG, avoiding separate .mjs MIME and data-image failures. QR errors are visible, with a copy-link fallback. Phones receive AR actions rather than instructions to scan their own screen. Compatible iPhones with a prepared USDZ get a native Quick Look link that does not wait for the GLB. Mobile header layout corrected; loading timeout and retry added.
0.1.0
Initial staging prototype.
