Best Practices
Writing Good Alt Text:
- Be descriptive but concise (125 characters or less)
- Describe what’s in the image, not just the subject
- Include context relevant to surrounding content
- Don’t start with “Image of” or “Picture of”
- For decorative images, use empty alt text
- Include text that appears in the image
Examples:
❌ Bad: “image123.jpg”
❌ Bad: “Picture of a dog”
✅ Good: “Golden retriever playing fetch in a park”
SEO Tips:
- Include relevant keywords naturally
- Don’t keyword stuff
- Make it useful for users first, search engines second
Accessibility Guidelines:
- Follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards
- Test with screen readers when possible
- Consider the image’s purpose in context

- Go to Media > Pichautari Alt Manager to start managing your alt text
Faq
Navigate to Media > Pichautari Alt Manager, find your images, type or edit the alt text in the input fields, and click “Save Alt Text”.

Click any filter chip (All, Missing, Manual, Generated) to instantly view only those images. Filters work with search and pagination.
- Good (green) – Well-written alt text (score 80-100)
- Fair (orange) – Acceptable but could improve (score 50-79)
- Poor (red) – Needs improvement (score 0-49)
The quality checker detects issues like generic phrases, filenames, and improper length.
Click the “Bulk Actions” button, select an action (Delete Auto-Generated or Copy from Title), and it applies to all images in your current view/filter.
Check your WordPress Dashboard for the “Alt Text Status” widget showing coverage percentage and counts. You’ll also see missing alt text count in the admin bar.
Yes! The plugin supports Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, WPBakery, Avada, Oxygen, Revolution Slider, ACF, and WooCommerce product descriptions.
No, it only reads alt text from the database and injects it when rendering images. Your actual content remains unchanged.
- Green: Manually added alt text (best quality)
- Blue: Auto-generated alt text (needs review)

Yes! Search engines use alt text to understand and rank your images in image search results.
The plugin helps you meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements for text alternatives, but you’re responsible for writing quality alt text.
