Sendtim – Email Marketing for WooCommerce
Sendtim – Email Marketing for WooCommerce
Description
For WooCommerce stores that run their newsletter and post-purchase email with Sendtim: a checkout opt-in, customer sync, a subscribe form and a pop-up.
Sendtim – Email Marketing for WooCommerce uses the official Sendtim API to sync customers and email subscribers. It includes an optional unchecked marketing checkbox at checkout, an email confirmation option, a subscription form, and a subscription pop-up.
Current features:
- Connect using a Sendtim API key and choose a default list.
- Enable or disable checkout integration and the opt-in checkbox.
- Choose among four checkbox positions in classic checkout and customize its label.
- Show the checkbox in the WooCommerce Checkout Block’s Order information area (WooCommerce 8.9+).
- Enable local double opt-in: Sendtim adds the subscriber to the selected list only after they confirm by email.
- Sync the latest paid order’s ID, total, currency, date, product names and product IDs as Sendtim contact custom properties, if purchase fields are enabled.
- Trigger an existing active Sendtim manual automation for a consenting buyer after a purchase.
- Add a form with [sendtim_subscribe] or a pop-up with [sendtim_popup delay=”5″].
- Schedule Sendtim requests after checkout, with up to three retries, so API delays do not block checkout.
This plugin does not currently import a WooCommerce product catalog into Sendtim, send complete order events, attribute revenue to campaigns, create segments automatically, or send abandoned-cart emails. Sendtim’s public API v1 currently publishes contacts, lists, campaigns and manual automation triggers, but no product, order, cart or campaign-attribution endpoints. Purchase fields can be used to build segments in the Sendtim dashboard.
External services
The plugin sends data to https://sendtim.com/api/v1 using the API key configured by the store administrator. After a paid order reaches processing or completed status, it may send a consenting buyer’s email, name, marketing consent, chosen list ID, and latest order ID, total, currency, date, product names and IDs. It may also update purchase fields for an existing subscriber. A new buyer without opt-in is not sent. A subscription form sends the submitted email and selected list. Double opt-in sends a confirmation email through the site’s configured WordPress mail service before sending the subscription. The optional automation feature sends the Sendtim contact ID to the configured manual automation. Store owners should describe this in their privacy notice and obtain suitable consent.

Installation
- Upload the plugin ZIP in Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, then activate it alongside WooCommerce.
- Open WooCommerce > Sendtim, enter your Sendtim API key, and save.
- Test the connection and select your default list.
- Enable checkout integration and configure the checkbox, double opt-in and purchase fields.
- Optionally add [sendtim_subscribe] or [sendtim_popup delay=”5″] to a page.
If the older Sendtim Connector plugin is installed, deactivate it to avoid duplicate checkout fields and syncs.
The popup can also set a title: [sendtim_popup delay=”8″ title=”Join our newsletter”]. Only one popup per page is recommended.
The API key remains on the WordPress server and is encrypted in the WordPress options table. Keep normal WordPress backups and salts secure. Rotating WordPress salts requires entering the API key again.
WooCommerce REST API consumer key and secret are not requested in version 1.0.0 because Sendtim has no public product/order import endpoint that uses them.
Faq
Yes, when WooCommerce 8.9 or newer provides the Additional Checkout Fields API. The position selector applies only to classic checkout. In Checkout Block the checkbox appears in Order information.
No. The marketing checkbox is unchecked. A new buyer without opt-in is not sent to Sendtim. An existing subscriber’s latest purchase fields may be updated when purchase fields are enabled.
The plugin sends its own confirmation email using WordPress mail and waits for a click before adding the contact to a Sendtim list. Configure WordPress mail delivery for reliable confirmation. The Sendtim list’s own double-opt-in setting is separate.
No. The current API cannot receive an order event with a campaign attribution identifier. The latest order total is stored only as a contact custom field; it is not a campaign ROI report.
