Description

Smart Home Remodeling Cost Calculator turns a page on your site into a quoting tool for remodeling contractors. A visitor picks the service they need from an eight-card grid, answers a short questionnaire tailored to that trade, tells you their timeline and budget, and gets an instant price range with a materials, labour and permits breakdown.

Every completed estimate is stored as a lead you can search, flag and export.

The eight calculators

  • Kitchen Remodel — size, layout change, cabinetry, countertops, appliances
  • Bathroom Remodel — bath type, plumbing moves, shower, vanity, tile coverage
  • Basement Finishing — area, current state, added bathroom, dedicated spaces
  • Room Addition — storeys, size, function, ensuite, roof tie-in, foundation
  • Whole-Home Remodel — home area, storeys, included areas, renovation depth
  • Flooring Replacement — square footage, material, subfloor demo and prep
  • Roof Replacement — roof area, pitch, building height, material, tear-off layers
  • Deck / Patio — structure, dimensions, decking material, railing

Each one asks only about its own trade, so the questions stay short and the numbers stay believable.

How the estimate is built

The engine uses the baseline-and-multiplier model contractors already think in:

( base price x size x material x complexity x timeline ) + flat add-ons

That figure is then spread by a variance percentage to produce a range rather than a single misleading number, and rounded to a clean increment. Every value in the formula is yours to set — base prices, each multiplier, each add-on amount, the variance, the labour and permits split, the minimum project cost and the rounding.

What the visitor gets

  • An eight-card service picker, or a single calculator embedded on its own page
  • Short, visual questionnaires — tap-to-select cards, not walls of text inputs
  • An instant range with a materials / labour / permits breakdown and a rough duration
  • A PDF of their estimate, produced by their own browser’s print dialog
  • A shareable result link they can send to a partner or a contractor
  • A layout that works on phones and respects reduced-motion preferences

What you get

  • A lead dashboard with search, service and status filters and a per-lead breakdown
  • Status flags: New, Contacted, Estimated, Sold, Lost
  • One-click CSV export
  • An email notification on every submission, plus an auto-responder to the prospect
  • A switch to turn off any calculator you do not offer
  • Brand colours, font, corner radius, headline, sub-headline and call-to-action
  • Your own uploaded icon for any service card
  • A ready-made shortcode for each individual calculator

Shortcodes

[happs_hrcc_calculator] — the full eight-service flow.

[happs_hrcc_calculator service="bathroom"] — a single calculator. Accepts any of: kitchen, bathroom, basement, addition, wholehome, flooring, roofing, deck.

You can also override the wording per embed:

[happs_hrcc_calculator title="Get a quote" subtitle="Takes about a minute"]

Built to behave

  • No third-party fonts, icon CDNs or analytics — every icon is inline SVG
  • All styles are scoped, and every control declares its own appearance, so an opinionated theme cannot reshape the calculator and the plugin will not restyle your theme
  • Leads live in a table in your own database
  • Runs on PHP 7.4 through 8.x

Privacy

The plugin stores what each visitor submits — name, email address, phone number, zip code, their questionnaire answers and the calculated estimate — in a table in your own database, along with the submitting IP address and the page the form appeared on. It sends email through WordPress, using whatever mail configuration your site already has.

Because it collects personal data, mention it in your own privacy policy. Uninstalling the plugin removes the table and every stored lead.

Can I change the prices?

Yes. Settings Service Pricing exposes every number the formula uses: each service’s base price and typical duration, every size, material and complexity multiplier, every flat add-on amount, the timeline multipliers, the range variance, the labour and permits split, the minimum project cost, the rounding increment and the currency symbol.

Can I turn off calculators I do not offer?

Yes — Settings Calculators has a switch for each of the eight, and a ready-made shortcode for embedding any one of them on its own page.

How does the PDF export work?

The estimate opens as a clean, print-optimised page and the browser’s own print dialog saves it as a PDF. Nothing is uploaded to render it, so no third-party service ever sees your leads.

Who can open a shared result link?

Anyone holding the link. Each result gets a random 32-character token, so links are not guessable, and the page is marked noindex. They are not password-protected, because they are meant to be forwarded to a partner or contractor. You can switch the share button off under Settings Display & Branding.

Where do the leads go?

Into a custom table in your own database, listed under Remodeling Calc Leads. Export them to CSV at any time, or forward each one to a webhook.

Does it work with any theme?

Yes. All styles are scoped to the plugin and every control declares its own appearance, so a theme will not reshape the calculator and the plugin will not leak styles into your theme.

Can I put more than one calculator on a page?

Yes. Each embed is an independent instance with its own state.

Is there a Pro version?

Yes. New installs get every feature for 15 days. After that the Free plan keeps the Kitchen Remodel calculator and shows the first five leads in full. Pro unlocks all eight calculators, editable pricing, unlimited readable leads and the CRM webhook.

Nothing is ever deleted. Leads captured on the Free plan are stored in full and become readable the moment a licence is activated.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

Deleting the plugin drops the leads table and removes every option it created. Deactivating leaves everything in place. Export to CSV first if you want to keep your leads.
