External services

This plugin connects to the Google Gemini AI API provided by Google.

It uses this external service to automatically generate descriptive ALT text for images in the WordPress Media Library.

When generating ALT text, the plugin sends:
– The image file URL (a public or authenticated link from your Media Library)
– The Gemini API key you provide (from your own Google AI Studio account)

No personal user data, login details, or analytics are transmitted.
The API key is stored locally in your WordPress database under the sioai_gemini_key option and is never shared externally.

The Google Gemini service is provided by Google LLC:

Users can revoke their Gemini API key at any time directly in their Google account settings.

  2. Activate it via “Plugins” in WordPress
  3. Go to Media Smart Image Optimizer AI
  4. Get your Gemini API key from Google AI Studio
  5. Paste your key and click Save Settings

Where do I get my Gemini API key?

Go to Google AI Studio, click “Create API Key,” and copy it.
