Good plugin for basic tasks
By funcdesign on May 15, 2025
This is a good plugin for accomplishing basic tasks (that really should be default functionality in WordPress.) I needed to create a new user role that derived from the WooCommerce Customer user role and was able to do so fairly easily. A few things I'd like to see that would make this a five-star plugin:
- Ability to directly clone an existing role to a new one (rather than create new role, and copy capabilities from existing role)
- Some kind of integration of the WordPress capability documentation into the role editor - either each capability has a link to the relevant documentation section, or the documentation is brought directly into the plugin (pop up window?)
- Bonus: It would be nice if the plugin could somehow identify what capabilities are provided by installed plugins, and which ones are leftover from a removed plugin. It would probably make more sense for WordPress core to manage this however (again necessitating this plugin's functionality be default.)
Like clockwork
By tufty on February 13, 2023
I've been using this for several years and it has worked like clockwork. No issues at all through the updates. I am a bit torn though for a new site as the new custom post and taxonomy type generation feature is pretty cool, but I've just made a custom plugin to create some and I prefer to keep functionality like that separate.
